Before suggesting a tool, we establish a reliable picture of the work. That means following a task from its first input to its final hand-off, including the workarounds nobody put in a process document.
What happens

Choose one repeatable workflow and agree where it begins and ends.
Record volumes, handling time, waiting time, rework and common exceptions using real examples.
Note who does each step, which systems hold the information and what is already measured.
What you leave with
Current-state workflow and evidence baseline.
The output gives us something concrete to review before the next stage.
The decision
Is the problem large and clear enough to investigate further? If not, the useful outcome may simply be a better baseline.
